Vivien Young
Vivien has written (on and off) all her life. She was married to science fiction writer Brian M. Stableford for twelve years, but became tired of never knowing what planet she was likely to wake up on, so left, and is now married to a craftsman who prefers stone and ceramics to words.
She has published fiction in People's Friend and won the Over 21 short story competition in 1985; she has also published poems and reviews in Poetry Wales and numerous travel and critical articles in a variety of publications. She currently writes a weekly column for the South Wales Evening Post and has just published her first ebook (Candy Floss and Carousels, an anthology of short stories).
She has four children, three step children, two grandchildren, a Jack Russell terrier, two guinea pigs and a fine selection of fish and frogs (they live in the garden pond). In her spare time she enjoys travel, cooking and craft activities and has a (probably never to be realised) ambition of living in France for a year or two one day.
After a long and varied business and academic career, these days, she combines a variety of freelance activities (which include writing, crafting and travelling) in an interesting, bespoke work mix which suits her enquiring mind and restless spirit.
With any luck (and not too many interruptions from family and assorted wildlife) Vivien hopes to complete a playscript for production by a local theatre company this year, and is preparing a novel for submission.
